About Us

Jean Alvarez

My name is Jean Alvarez. I head up our neurofeedback research efforts, though I also see individual clients who are not involved in one of our studies. My doctorate is in social psychology and I have worked as a university professor and as a consultant to many not-for profit organizations. I became interested in neurofeedback when, after treatment for cancer, I experienced the cognitive problems often known as “chemobrain.” (You can find a short video about that experience here.)

After seven years of cognitive struggles, fatigue, sleep impairment and mild depression, it was NeurOptimal neurofeedback that brought me back to my pre-cancer self. This very positive experience led me to want to make the same approach available to other people, and also led to our study, “The Effect of EEG Biofeedback on Reducing Post-Cancer Cognitive Impairment,” published in November 2013 in Integrative Cancer Therapies.

I’ve come to love doing this work. Each person who comes to our clinic has a unique story, and it’s such a privilege to hear those stories and watch people’s lives improve. Whether a person is suffering with a medical concern, a psychological/emotional concern, or simply wants to function better in any aspect of his or her life, I treasure the opportunity to accompany each of them as they move toward wellness and high function.

I am a certified NeurOptimal Master Trainer, working in our Westlake office.

Call our office at 216 505-1653 to talk to one of our associates to get your questions answered and to arrange an initial consultation. We look forward to talking with you.

Sherri Leslie

Sherri Leslie, M.A. CCC-SLP

My name is Sherri Leslie.  I am a speech-language-cognitive therapist specializing in work with TBI patients. A former graduate faculty member at the University of Akron, I am interested in research that will help us understand the effectiveness of systemic neurofeedback for brain injuries, and possibly pinpoint those for whom this approach might be most helpful. I am a Certified Trainer for Zengar neurofeedback equipment, now offering neurofeedback sessions in our Westlake office.

Amy Mellinger

My name is Amy Mellinger. My background is in early childhood education. Working with children has been a passion of mine since I can remember. I have seen the benefits of Neurofeedback within my own family as it has tremendously helped my daughter. I absolutely love working with people and seeing them find hope and improve their quality of life. It’s such a wonderful thing to witness.

I am trained to run NeurOptimal sessions out of our Westlake office.
